Hi, my name is Khoo. I’m from Singapore, and I’m 60 years old.
Here is my journey through stage 4 colorectal cancer.
When I was first diagnosed, I felt a mix of sadness and surprise. I felt empty and confused.
I am currently receiving treatment, and my doctor recommended chemotherapy, which I opted for based on their advice and due to financial reasons. I have not changed my treatment plan since it was first recommended.
The chemotherapy has caused significant side effects, including hair loss, nausea and vomiting, and peripheral neuropathy. I haven't done much to manage these side effects.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve made some permanent changes to my lifestyle. I completely stopped drinking alcohol, though I ended up eating a relatively unhealthy diet three to five days a week.
I’ve made no plans at all for myself or my family in the next two years. The uncertainty of my situation makes it hard to plan ahead.
There is nothing to fear.
Some time has passed and now I’m feeling more optimistic and hopeful.
Try to be optimistic to face the challenge. Whatever the outcome, just face it.
