My name is Anil. I’m from India. I have three children, and this is my story as a warrior currently battling lung cancer.

It all started with a cough about a year ago that led me to seek medical advice. I sought a second opinion, hoping to consult a more experienced doctor. But the diagnosis remained the same: I have stage 4 lung cancer.
The fear upon receiving my cancer diagnosis was the main thing I remember. I felt frightened, nervous, and worried.

I did not make any immediate changes to my lifestyle.

My cancer treatment has evolved along the journey:
My doctor recommended:
- Lobectomy and hormone therapy
I opted for:
- Chemotherapy and hormone therapy
My current treatment:
Having to decide the treatment plans made me quite angry, yet I’m a bit anxious about them.

I experienced diarrhea, hair loss, and loss of appetite. Managing these side effects required prescribed medications, which helped alleviate some of the discomfort.

Since beginning treatment, I haven't made any changes to my lifestyle.

I haven't made specific plans for the next two years for myself or my family. But I do spend more time with my children.

Not being able to survive was the biggest fear throughout my cancer journey. I haven’t been able to overcome this fear yet.

Over time, I feel sad. The sadness comes from disappointment and grief.

To those on their own cancer journey, my message is simple: Have hope.
