My name is Susannah, I survived stage 2 breast cancer, which was discovered after I noticed my nipple was inverted.
I went to see a doctor after noticing an inverted nipple.
I felt fearful, frightened and helpless. It made me nervous and worried.
I did not make any changes.
My doctors recommended a breast-conserving lumpectomy and radiation therapy, which I took up. I felt happy to decide on a treatment plan, but still anxious, discouraged and scared at the time.
I wasn’t majorly affected by side effects.
I didn’t make much changes, but I found myself spending less time with my kids than I used to, I don’t see them much at all, now. Still, we go on two family trips a year.
I don’t have plans. I just want to stay alive, and see my granddaughter grow up.
Things started during Covid, so I was alone throughout. The fear passed, eventually.
Right now, I just feel sad, empty and lonely.
To others, I would say: “Try to be with the ones you love, it will make such a difference."
