Sarah 25689 Profile

I was suffering from symptoms like persistent cough, shortness of breath and unintended weight loss.

After multiple doctor consultations, I was diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer in 2019. I underwent a lobectomy and chemotherapy. I’ve completed treatment and my cancer is now in remission.

I kept coughing and couldn’t walk without getting breathless. I started getting tired very easily and started losing weight. I was initially dismissed as signs of aging and bronchitis. It took multiple visits to the doctor before I got referred to the hospital. They found a mass in my lung.

When my diagnosis was revealed, I was fearful, sad, helpless and empty.

Clarice Emotions
Lifestyle Healthy Diet 6

Since the diagnosis, I’ve improved my diet and nutrition by eating healthier every day.

Emma Biggest Fear

I opted for a lobectomy (removal of entire lobe) and chemotherapy, following my doctor’s recommendations and after taking into account financial considerations. After deciding on this treatment plan, I was still very discouraged and scared.

Symptoms Vomit 1

Apart from fatigue, nausea and vomiting, I also had mucositis. I improved my nutrition to manage these side effects.

Lifestyle Healthy Diet 3

After treatment started, I continued to eat a healthier diet every day.

Aspirations Vacation 3

I wanted to live. My husband wanted me to live. So, I plan to continue with my life. I have travel plans and I’m still deciding where to go.

Emotions Fear 1

I didn’t tell my children that I was sick. I worried that something could have happened to me or I might be dead without telling them. We aren’t on talking terms and I didn’t want to depend on them. Part of my lung collapsed after the surgery and that made my fears worse, but I managed to recover in the end.

Emotions Neutral 1

It’s been several years since I first found out I had cancer, and now I feel rather neutral.

Biggest Fear Postive 2

You have only got 1 life. Be happy and always think positive.
