Hi, my name is Ronit, and I'm from India. I was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer about 1 to 2 years ago.
I didn't experience any symptoms; it was only through a health checkup that my cancer was detected.
I went for a health examination, and the doctor noticed something different. My doctor asked me to get an MRI or biopsy and it confirmed the cancer diagnosis. I did some research and found that the 5-year survival rate, in my case, was around 90%.
I was frightened and grieved over the news when I got to know I had cancer.
I didn’t make any lifestyle changes after the diagnosis.
My treatment plan encompassed chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and pain medication. When it was finally decided, I felt somewhat motivated and hopeful. I’m still on chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Fortunately, I didn't experience any side effects.
I call my parents much more often, although I can’t visit them as often as before. I cherish my time with my children so I try to spend more time with them. However, we can’t enjoy family trips as often as we used to.
I plan to build a huge house for my family. I want to provide everything for my family, and to give my loved ones everything they want.
My biggest fear throughout the journey was that I might not survive. Or even if I do, that I would get weak. My family helped me out a lot to overcome this fear.
Some time has passed and my cancer is in remission. I now feel optimistic, particularly confident and courageous.
To those on their own cancer journey, I'd say: "To keep being patient and trust the process. It will get better."
