Hi, I'm Moira from New Zealand. I was diagnosed with stage 0 breast cancer in 2022.
The news came as a surprise as this was my second diagnosis.
When I first heard the news, I was surprised as this was my second diagnosis; my first was 10 years ago. But I also felt optimistic, confident and thankful.
My lifestyle post-diagnosis didn’t change.
My doctor’s recommendations for treatment included a
- lumpectomy
- mastectomy
- hormone therapy.
Taking their advice and my own research into consideration, I eventually opted for these surgeries
- mastectomy
- reconstruction after the mastectomy.
Once my treatment plan was decided, I felt very relieved, motivated and hopeful.
I’ve since completed treatment and my cancer is in remission.
The surgeries did not leave me with any side effects.
Over the course of treatment, there weren’t any changes to my lifestyle.
Throughout my experience with cancer, I feared that something unforeseen would happen, but everything went as planned.
Today, I still feel optimistic, confident, and thankful.
