Hi, I’m Gail from the UK. I’m a mother of two and I work in administration. In August 2024, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Sadly, I’ve also lost a niece to breast cancer. I’ve yet to receive treatment, but I have a treatment plan in place.
I first felt something was wrong when I felt a lump in my breast. A few weeks had passed and it didn’t go away so I decided to seek medical attention. I was eventually diagnosed with stage 3 luminal A breast cancer.
I was really surprised because I was initially told it was almost certainly a cyst.
I have yet to receive treatment, but together with my doctor, we’ve decided on a treatment plan which will include:
I’ve yet to start chemo, but I’m informed I will need at least 6 sessions.
Thankfully, I am receiving financial aid from the NHS (National Health System).
Besides diet, my lifestyle hasn’t changed much. My diet changed dramatically since I was diagnosed. I continued to work as well, with some accommodations offered by my employer. I like working as it takes my mind off the situation.
Personally, I’m looking forward to booking a nice holiday after treatment.
My biggest fear so far is dying and not being with my family. I’ve spent time researching the disease and its treatments to overcome this fear.
As I’m awaiting treatment, I feel optimistic as I now have a treatment plan and am moving forward.
Keep strong and positive. Take time out to recover when needed.
